Before you pay anyone, including us, here's how to get your car out.

  1. Make sure the door is fully closed and nothing is under it.
  2. Find the red cord hanging from the opener rail and pull it down, then toward the motor. That disconnects the trolley.
  3. Lift the door from the bottom with both hands. A healthy door feels light and stays where you leave it.
  4. Back out, then lower it by hand. Don't drive off with it up.
If it feels very heavy, or you heard a bang like a gunshot, stop. The spring is broken and a double door can weigh over 300 lb without it. That's a same-day call; don't lift it alone.
